We’re back with the podcast of Home Grown Radio. First off, sorry for skipping a week on Home Grown Radio’s podcast on dubcnn. I had been out of town and hadn’t been able to post it. So before getting to this week’s podcast, click here to listen to Home Grown Radio 6-31-11 with Mykestro, Sean Falyon and El Prez.
Now let’s get on to this week’s podcast. This week we kicked things off by introducing our audience to an artist by the name of Icon. The Los Angeles emcee speaks on how he got introduced to hip hop, networking within the industry as an upcoming artist, plus the plans he has for his music and overall career.
We got a chance to also press play on a few records he has in the works from a project series entitled Welcome To Fresh Coast.
Later in the show we had the pleasure of going one on one with Kendrick Lamar. The Compton native goes in depth about his current project “Section.80“, the definition of HiiiPower, his personal relationship with Dr. Dre, plus the opportunity/responsibility he suddenly has to speak for an entire generation.
Kendrick then goes through the entire Top Dawg Ent. roster, giving his personal thoughts as to what each artist/producer brings to the table. He also explains where he’d like to see himself a few years down the line and kicks a few bars for the audience. Listen below:
