Having finally released their highly anticipated EP (and rightfully so), the recent victors in Villain Park dropped Same Ol’ Shit with backing from prominent brand & tastemakers LRG, and deliver not only one of the most potent and well arranged projects of this 4th quarter, but from throughout this entire year for that matter. The forcible foursome of Smokey V, Niftee, Classicko and KilaM impress with their equally vigorous verbal skills & abilities to compliment one another’s individual styles, creating a chemistry unique and unprecedented these days. Whether the title implies a simple day in the life of this young & yearning crew, or a shot at the generic sound flooding the stations, this EP is worth more than just a listening, it deserves to stay in rotation & allowed to radiate as the bright spot that it is. With unoriginality and lack of meaningful content plaguing the culture, VP have quarantined themselves from this epidemic, yet maintaining an ill approach to their craft, all while capturing the origins & essence of Hip-Hop culture in their music and image. Making this is a local Westside effort, the project features big homies Hugh Augustine and Ray Wright of Warm Brew, as well as production from Al B Smoov, Smoke Dawg & K. Solar, only to support the fact that these Villains are on the rise with fair reason; giving listeners that nostalgic head bop with rhymes reminiscent of times where you were required to write what you live & live what you write.
