Minnesota hip hop trio FREEWIFI invades New York City in their latest music video “Outta My Way,” out today on Rostrum Records. Directed by Danny Dizzy and shot by DZ Premium, the visual captures Tha Rift, J. Plaza and Daddy Dinero turning up on the basketball court, hitting up a taco truck and poppin’ champagne. The clip closes with a snippet of “Go,” another banger from their debut album Connected.

FREEWIFI recently opened for Chicago legend Twista during a hometown show and earned props from KarenCivil.com for their performances on SXSW showcases for Hot 97 and Revolt TV. Their #WhoRunsItChallenge video even prompted a personal shoutout from will.i.am.
Media support continues with a featured, curated Tidal playlist as well as interviews with Peter Rosenberg on Hot 97, Young California and One West Magazine.
In May, FREEWIFI will release the music video for “Feeling U” as well as a DJ Tiiiiiiiiiip mixtape.
About FREEWIFI:
Three of Minneapolis’ finest, rising solo MCs (Tha Rift, J. Plaza, Daddy Dinero) have united to form FREEWIFI, a force unlike anything the city has ever seen. Producer Angelo Bombay brought the trio together in 2016 via social media and the chemistry was undeniable in their debut collaboration “Ego.” The song showcased the Rostrum Records artists’ personalities and compatible, yet distinct styles — Tha Rift’s catchy chorus, Plaza’s melodic baritone flow and Daddy Dinero’s confident delivery and likeable arrogant lyrics.
The debut single was an instant local success, generating more than 100,000 views on YouTube and support from area staples Minneapolis radio Go 95.3, local weekly CityPages and the opportunities to open up for Machine Gun Kelly, Wiz Khalifa and Waka Flocka. Last spring the group kicked off a series of major shows including Heather B’s Fifth Element stage at Soundset, EST Festival, Summer Set and A3C.
“FREEWIFI reps the unity of us coming together,” FREEWIFI explains. “We are three different MCs from different walks of life, but we connected through social media and phones before we connected in person. We also reach and impact our society by living a free lifestyle and encouraging others to live free spirited.” Hence, the name FREEWIFI.
Tha Rift caught the attention of tastemaker blog Pigeons & Planes after responding to their challenge for readers to get a tattoo of the website’s logo. While P&P loved the gesture, the team was equally impressed with the group’s song “Salsa” which it premiered and described as “full of clever lines that deserve an extra listen or two.” J. Plaza scored a re-tweet from Jaden Smith after he remixed Smith’s song “Batman” and sent him a link via social media.
And, Dinero’s 2015 remix of Drake’s “Energy” is nearing 1 million streams on SoundCloud. The union is the perfect complement to their talents. FREEWIFI’s dynamic forthcoming debut album is on track to put Minneapolis on the hip hop map, worldwide.
“Outta My Way” can be found on FREEWIFI’s debut album Connected.
