DUBCNN: Exclusive Interview With The D.O.C.!
« on: April 30, 2008, 03:07:50 PM »

Dubcnn tapped in with the D.O.C. for an exclusive interview for the first time in two years [see the 2006 feature]. In Part 1 of the interview, D.O.C starts right off touching on the long-anticipated Dr. Dre solo album Detox. From there he chops it up with us about the No One Can Do It Better album from back in the day, Dr. Dre, N.W.A., Mel-Man, and even talks about a new D.O.C. record produced by the good Doctor!

Dubcnn: Mel-Man was such a big part of 2001, then he just disappeared shortly after that. Now we’re hearing that he’s back, but no one I guess really knows. Can you confirm that?

Mel-Man is always around. But sometimes, and I’m going to say this as humbly as I can. Dre is a giver, and he will give you...like a lot of people always tend to give other folks credit ‘cause they’re around when shit is going down. But, if it come out of here, you can bet your last money Dre is on it so tough, that anybody else’s energy that would’ve been on it is being smothered. You understand? It’s no longer there. Like, if I found a sample and gave it to Dre, what he’s going to do with it is going to make it so different from what it was when I had it that in order for me to claim it, it would take a lot of nuts and a lot of pride. And pride is not good.

Dre is not in to ‘I did that’, because he already knows he did the shit. That’s the same shit used when Daz was around. It was supposed to be all Daz’s. I sit and watch these niggaz. They give the nigga [Dre] the drums and he takes them and builds them ‘cause they can’t do what Dre do. They don’t have his ears. So it’s all in the guy’s ears and how he hears the shit. It’s not something so special that he’s doing to the drums that they not doing. You can use the same equipment that he uses, but he’s going to turn that button a little differently than you turn it, and make that shit sound different. That’s the key. That’s the key.

No matter who says this, or how many times it is said,
Somebody will overlook this and say Dre 'Steals'..
Props on the Interview! Can't wait for Part 2

That's the most truth I've read on here in a long time. My ? is, if those guys make all those hit songs, how come they mostly fall off when they're not working with Dre?

Props on the interview. Crazy he talking down on Daz, but I guess Daz was the only one who wouldn't just ride under Dre's wing and not say shit.

I appriciate the work and I know it ain´t your fault,

All I can hope for now is that some of my questions got included anyway.  :-\ :-\ (will check the interview now)
Edit;
As always you know your shit, props for that.
I enjoyed both your questions and answers  ;)

Follow up questions for your next interview with The D.O.C
-When you started working on Helter skelter for Dre,was Erotic D going to be part of the production for that album?
-Was the "new world" concept that you used for your
Helter Skelter album the same concept that you had planned for Dre & Cube's album?
-You produced some tracks Mc Breed & DFC,do you still do some beats,
or was that just some fun you was playing with back then?
-You wrote Guerrilla Pimpin' for Mc Breed on his Flatline album, but you used the same lyrics for your Deuce album with 6-2 performing them, diden't you like the Mc Breed version or did you like the lyrics so much that you wanted them on your album also?
-Are you still cool with Mc Breed?
-What's up with Erotic D?
-Will he ever get to release his The Black Bruce Willis album?

So Nima when are you gonna do the follow up interview you mentioned?

Well common sense will tell you that money talks and generally the people that are saying this are with Aftermath or real close to Dre.  Same type of situation 50 cent had...G-Unit aint' gon talk down on him no matter what cause they know they better off with him then without.  Now if you had any input in the production of a beat you should at least get partial credit as a co-producer or listed as "beat arranged by...beat mixed by.  That is just good business and love, especially if you cool with the person.  Bad business is when they sitting there eating off a classic beat that you help make for the rest of they life off royalties and you ain't getting shit cause your name ain't nowhere on the production.  I think thats is where you get complaints from former guys like Daz.

You also have to realize most artist fall off with Dre or not with Dre anyway...thats a natural process.  Its rare you see any emcee still spittin just as good as they did with delivery, hunger when they first started.  Same with producers.  Dre also has that machine and backing, but his work effort is in a class of its own anyway.
