Do it man. Made the switch in February and couldn't ever imagine going back to PCs, they just seem awkward and poorly designed whenever I am forced to go back to one in an internet cafe or to help out my parents when they are having problems with theirs. With a Mac you get a reliable, streamlined experience that is just not possible on a PC.

On the downside, if you are a student or sometimes need to take work home from the office then it is possible that the programs you need for your course/work may be PC only, but if this is really an issue then you can use bootcamp or a similar app to create a windows partition on your Mac and boot to Windows in order to use those programs as and when you need them.

haha, explain how is it "not possible" to get a reliable PC?
and what is a "streamlined experience"?

On the real - go ahead if you feel like it. BUT - there is the very real danger of turning into an asshole. I'm dead serious. My brother bought a Mac a couple years back and suddenly he's elitist mofo with nothing else than something with an Apple logo good enough for him.

:D that reminds me of a lady i saw who was like that, the kid waz wanting one of those Zune's, and i heard her say:
"i dont need microsoft to hold all MY photos and music" >:(

I wouldn't recommend it unless you get a fuck-ton of memory, 'cause even though I like it, I gotta admit Vista is a RAM whore.

That's what Mac people always say, and it indedd does do that stuff well, but frankly I don't know of any task you couldn't do equally well on a Windows or Linux based PC (Linux having some obvious software limitations, though). As long as the hardware is up to it, the OS doesn't really matter in the end.

Os is important when doing programs..however, there are lot of amatures who thinks they know what they getting themselves into when they get mac... as long as they know what they intend to get then it's all good.  mac is a powerhouse.  I guess windows got some, however I'm bias against windows when it comes to music program and graphic designing.  oh well...
