Where?  Other than dedicated rap fans searching out little tidbits of information in unrelated Snoop interviews, i haven't seen any mainstream promo for this album or anyone doing an interview or podcast about this specific album.

It's always "Snoop and the olympics" or Dre and the Gin and Juice drinks, and then during the interview, one of them might casually say "yeah Dre and I are back in the studio" or "Dre and I might be working on something"...

That's hardly a major promo run.

What's the point in promoting something that doesn't have a confirmed date. They don't caree nough about sales enough to put the time or money into promotion. So few people are actually paying for music now especially around major artist that why would they? Who on this thread apart from 2 or 3 people will actually BUY the album when it comes out? You could stream it every day for the rest of your life and it still wouldn't net anyone involved a single $.

i mean look at 90s artists like jay-z .. he went platinum on his last effort

if marketed properly, there’s still room for a successful album rollout

don’t need a date necessarily.. just promote the album as coming soon and then when a date drops that in itself becomes noteworthy …. similar to how eminem just dropped.

Agree with the above.  BUT this is the follow-up to Doggystyle so I have to think they WILL aim to drop a bangin single/video?  It’s too big of a deal not to do this right.
You mentioned Eminem’s last album…he dropped the Houdini single/video before the album and it definitely helped him with album “sales”

I totally agree, the album isn't close to being ready, and there isn't any promotion for it.  These are the same people who thought Detox was coming for 15 years, and now maybe finally they have realized, although i'm sure there are some people who think Dre is still close to dropping Detox.  The minute Snoop makes one little hint at something, people are like "Missionary is coming this week!!"  Give it up.

That platinum wasn't physical sales though. Streams don't count as 'sales' as far as I'm concerned.

It's more than likely locked in at this stage in terms of a finalised tracklist but the other stuff still has to follow. It's a Snoop/Dre album. It doesn't need a lengthy promotion. Years ago before streaming then yes there would be the gradual rollout but such a thing is null and void these days.

Gin and Juice = Beats by Dre
Missionary = Detox

Feel like history is going to repeat itself

Based on what exactly?  What makes you think the tracklist and album are locked?

why you so heated about this bro lmao

dre said they are deciding between 14 or 16 tracks or something.

mentioned he's 1/3 of the way through mixing or whatever he said etc.

dre saying stuff like that is new - he's never outside actually acknowledging things. last time he did, was marsha. that came - very late, but it came.

I'm just trying to keep things in this thread as accurate as possible.  I want the album to come out as badly as everyone here.  No anger from me.  But it's posts like the one above that gets people confused, angry and frustrated towards the artists, record companies, etc.  When people post statements as actual facts, with nothing to support what they say, that's when it gets frustrating.

Dre said he had to be done mixing by Sept 1st to make a November release date.  That obviously didn't happen.  There is no locked in tracklist yet, there is no album completion, no mixing completed, no release date set.  I've seen recent posts on IG from artists saying they are still recording for it.

People trying to be detectives, like "Dre said this in one interview, then Snoop said this other thing, and 8 months ago, DOC said this, so that must mean the album is being released this week".  No one is dropping any subtle hints or trying to have fans decode secret things.  And honestly, i want accurate information too.  So my purpose of questioning the prior post was to show me where that information was gathered from so I could see for myself.  If it came from an accurate source, that's great news.  But throwing out speculation and trying to pass it off as fact isn't helpful.

Dre had Marsha since 2013, over 10 years to release the album.  So yeah, great Dre finally released it.  But that doesn't mean this Snoop album, that Dre's been talking about for the past year and a half is any closer to being completed.

I heard 2 tracks, whether they're finally on the album now, who knows, but what I heard is next level and by that I mean this leaked stuff

Can I just say, thank you for keeping some sanity in this thread.

Dre's OCD perfectionism is yet again causing unnecessary delays in everything and people who are frustrated and disappointed, I ask why? This is how Dre operates. Always has been. 2pac in interviews after Dre left Death Row said Dre would spend three years working on a single song. Obviously he was exaggerating, but evidence ever since pretty much confirms Dre is slow as shit. He's an amazing creative mind, but unfortunately like many creative geniuses, he gets stuck in the weeds and the minor details that only he notices. I used to be an artist. Speaking from experience, that the minor little thing that's annoying you to no end? Guess what? No one else would even notice it. He just needs a good editor/manager to keep him on track and at some point tell him that the work is finished and to move on to the next project.

That being said, I'm sticking with my original prediction. The Missionary album that Dre's working on currently will never come out. Snoop will eventually release an album titled Missionary, but it won't be executive produced by Dre and there may just two or three Dre produced tracks on it.
