My Diary was the only track to me that felt like a true Detox leftover. Sounded like the old Dre in style and cadence. Didn't have that high pitched fast rapping he does now. Deeper voice, more measured intentionally slower flow. The instrumental wasn't all chaotic with a bunch of beat switch ups.
both were huge letdowns.my favorite tracks are on compton.as a whole however i prefer missionary.but i mostly never listen to either anymore.
Neither. Gun to head, Compton.
I listened to Missionary once the whole way through and then never again...Compton I consider one of the last great hip-hop moments in time, where you just have vivid and distinct memories of that whole era of months with the release of the movie and album/soundtrackI mean I think the album was up to Dre's gold standard and I listened to it non-stop for like 6 months st8 when it was released. The way Dre comes in like "I Just Bought California..." I can still remember literally where I was driving on the road in Kansas City when he hit that note still gives me chills.
same hereif you ask me to name a track from the album I would probably just say the one with Snoop and Dre
the one i remember the most was the joint with 50had a throwback g-unit sound
Of course context plays a part such as your mood and what you're doing when you're listening.
I do think people should give the Missionary album another chance if you didn't like it when it first released.I've gone back to albums many years later that I never really gave the time of day to because I was listening to other stuff at the time and ended up loving what I'm hearing after giving it another go.Of course context plays a part such as your mood and what you're doing when you're listening.I'm not saying people's opinions will change but it's really not that bad an album at all when considered alongside Snoop's other albums.
You are right, compared to Snoop's other albums, it's not bad. I think people just expected a little bit more from a Dre/Snoop collab album. I think everyone was hoping for a little more than "It's really not that bad" for an album of that caliber.
