MULTI-PLATINUM ARTIST KEVIN GATES RETURNS WITH NEW MUSIC, ADDRESSING HIS INABILITY TO LEAVE CHICAGO & MARKING THE BEGINNING OF RAMADAN

Last night, on the first night of Ramadan, Kevin Gates surprised the world with new music. The multi-platinum artist released three new songs called “Chained To The City,” a phrase that captures Gates’ current legal situation and his inability to leave the city of Chicago.

Tonight, embracing the city of Chicago, the Breadwinners Association rapper teamed up with video director and Chicago native Cole Bennett to launch his first music video since his January 2018 release from prison (he had been incarcerated since October 2016).

In addition to “Change Lanes,” “Chained To The City” also features new tracks “Vouch” and “Let It Sing.” Gates has been recording in Chicago since his release and forming a connection with the city. The rapper took to his Instagram earlier this week to show gratitude to fellow artist Meek Mill for being compassionate toward his situation, and further explain how he feels about the city of Chicago and his current legal circumstances.

Although Gates is unable to travel, perform and provide for his family during this time, he is not upset with nor does he have issues with the city of Chicago, IL. He is simply upset with the parole because he thought it would be rehabilitative in nature and not punitive. Gates has always held true to the fact that great people undergo great tests. This is just another one.
