Nostalgic Nas Asks “Where Are They Now”

0

Last year the Hip-Hop world took note and praised the efforts of The Game for his mammoth “One Blood Remix” featuring the majority of today’s relevant Hip-Hop artists [see; The Game “One Blood” Remix [Audio]] – however what we have for you today is nothing short of historic.

Nas, currently riding the wave of success that his latest album “Hip Hop Is Dead” is having, took time to track down what can only be described as a “Whose Who” of artists that have effectively fallen off the mainstream Hip-Hop radar – effectively the MC’s that that majority of us grew up on.

The aptly titled “Where Are They Now” series has, so far, spawned three recently released tracks; an 80’s mix, a 90s mix and a Westcoast mix. All three are of the highest quality both musically and lyrically and will have you all in awe.

Nas – Where Are They Now (80’s Remix) (Feat. MC Shan, Raheem (Furious Five), Doctor Ice (UTFO), Kangol (UTFO), Kool Moe Dee, Sha Rock (Funky Four +1), Tito (Fearless Four), Grandmaster Caz (Cold Crush Brothers), Lique (Isis of X Clan), Dana Dane, Pebblee Poo & Just Ice)

Nas – Where Are They Now (90’s Remix) (Feat. Redhead Kingpin, Rob Base, Original Spinderella, Father MC, Monie Love, Mike Gee (Jungle Brothers), E-S-T (3XDope), Dres (Black Sheep), Das Efx, DoItAll (Lords of the Underground), Chip-Fu (Fu-Schnickens) and Positive K)

Nas – Where Are They Now (West Coast Remix) (Feat. Breeze, Kam, King Tee, Candyman, Threat, Ice-T, Sir Mix-A-Lot and the Conscious Daughters – scratches from DJ Bobcat)

At the start of the Westcoast Remix Nas poses the question; “Is Hip-Hop Dead or still alive?” – after these Nas we can only say that as long as these MC’s are breathing and have the ability to spit – it certainly isnt dead.

Stay tuned to dubcnn as we hear there are possibly another three tracks of this ilk in the pipeline for imminent release.
