news The Game & Travis Barker Rock AOL Music - November 30, 2006 By : Rud

In what will be the first AOL Music Session of its kind, multi-platinum recording artists The Game and Travis Barker are joining forces for a unique recording event that will air December 1st on AOL Music.

Single-handedly (literally, as sole instrumentalist performing with one arm in a sling due to a recent fracture) Travis Barker will provide a musical backdrop for The Game, as the two southern California natives reinterpret selections from The Game's sophomore album, "Doctor’s Advocate," which was released on November 14th debuting at #1 [Billboard], having sold 358,278 copies.

Barker’s newest venture, the band (+44), also had an album drop the same day; "When Your Heart Stops Beating" bowed at #10 on the Billboard chart.

Travis Barker broke his right arm while shooting (+44)’s first music video, but the injury has not slowed him down. The band, which also includes Barker’s former Blink-182 band mate Mark Hoppus, Craig Fairbaugh of The Transplants and Shane Gallagher of The Nervous Return, is now in the middle of a nationwide tour.

In addition to The Game's chart success, his new line of Hurricane sneakers in stores and his performance for MTV’s $2 Bill Concert which aired over the Thanksgiving holiday, the man who calls himself the face of Los Angeles is now preparing to trek across Europe. He will touch down on December 4th in Manchester (U.K.) and hit some of the continent’s largest cities and music halls throughout the month.

A preview of this amazing AOL performance is available at ComptonGame.com/AOL before it’s December 1st premiere on AOL. In addition, the audio recording from this special performance will be available exclusively on iTunes from December 28th. The fusion of Mr. Barker and The Game, two of music’s biggest personalities and brightest talents, will make for an AOL Music first that offers something for both rock and rap fans alike.

news Exclusive Interview With Westside Way (fka Conway) - November 29, 2006 By : Lil Jay

An almost forgotten talent on the West Coast is 24 year old Westside Way, who was formerly known as Conway. After getting dropped from Motown/Universal 2 years ago, the Los Angeles rapper went back in the independent game and played the background role. But he didn't let the drop stop him as he continued to hustle and record music on a non-stop basis.

Dubcnn re-introduced the Hip Hop world to Conway back in March [see: The Return Of Conway!] and we followed up with another update earlier this month [see: New Exclusive Audio From Westside Way (aka Conway)]. As you can see, he's still at it while checking out these label deals on the table.

Dubcnn chopped it up with The Way to talk about his days on Motown, his unreleased album "How The West Was Won", leaving the label, his reaction after the drop, working on new projects, and much more. Hit the link to read the interview and to check out some exclusive tracks from Conway. Also be on the look out for an exclusive studio footage coming soon on Dubcnn.

news Cashis & Rikanatti Make Their Major Debut - November 25, 2006 By : Lil Jay

Going from dropping local mixtapes to signing to Shady Records, Orange County natives Cashis and Rikanatti are on the way to get their big break in the rap game. You don't have to be an industry insider to be able to tell that Cashis is one of the next MC's that is one step away from blowing up. The West Coast rapper took his chance and it's not too far away from being showcased to the public.

In the summer of 2005, Dubcnn put the spotlight on Cashis and his producer Rikanatti, known under the collective The Renegadez. Cashis wasn't lying when he told us in our exclusive interview that "Two of the biggest labels out are scouting us pretty hard right now. So hopefully we can land a major deal and release a couple more mixtapes and release a full length album."

What happened next was the major deal with Shady Records, which resulted in the duo being placed on the upcoming Shady Records compilation "The Re-Up" presented by Eminem. Even Slim Shady recognized his talent, as he gave Cash a spot on the album. We're not talking a single spot, but 6 tracks including 2 solo songs by Cashis (both produced by Rikanatti) as well as the lead single "You Don't Know" featuring Eminem, 50 Cent, and Lloyd Banks.

Dubcnn has one of the songs available for free download:

Cashis - Everything Is Shady (Produced by Rikanatti)

"Eminem Presents The Re-Up" is in stores December 5th. Shout outs to Cashis and Rikanatti!

news D.O.E. & Timbaland "Just Might Lose It" - November 15, 2006 By : Rud

Hip-Hop & R&B's current IT man of production and guest appearences is currently gearing up for his first solo album release in December.

That's right Timbaland, the man who may lay claim to beat of the year for Justin Timbalake's "My Love" record, is currently finalising his debut solo and the single "Give It To Me" featuring recent collaborators Nelly Furtado and the aforementioned Justin Timbalake is already creating a buzz on our forum section, Outbound Connection.

With all that going on you would forgive Timbaland for solely concentrating on that release however his renaissance this year has led to him managing to also ready his other artists, one of which is the New York born D.O.E. who some may remember from last year with his track "Rollin'" which features Timbaland and Lil Jon. Since then they have been working on his debut LP which will hit stores in 2007. A street track surfaced just a few weeks ago entitled "Peace" which features and is produced by Timbaland - a track you can download below.

D.O.E. - Peace (Feat. Timbaland) (Produced By Timbaland)

Another cut, again just a street track [Editors Note; if they are leaving off heat like this they must have some incredible new music for the album!] is the infections "Just Might Lose It", which we are proud to premiere today. The track features both Candance and Timbaland (who also produced the track).

D.O.E. - Just Might Lose It (Feat. Candance & Timbaland) (Produced By Timbaland)

Soak up this new material and tell everyone where you heard it first. For those fiending for more new D.O.E. and Timbo stay tuned to dubcnn and look out for Timbaland's debut album in December which he is said to feature on. Remember to check out D.O.E.'s MySpace page for more news and audio too.

news BadNewz Is "Falling Down" On New Mixtape [Audio] - November 12, 2006 By : Nima

A young talent by the name of BadNewz is the reason for this trip, because I couldn't let ya'll sleep on this dude. In a time where bragging rights and flossing are raps main topics, BadNewz enters the game with some authentic Hip-Hop.

Dubcnn caught up with her and here is her statement to the fans:"I have been working on a mixtape which will most likely be called Yacville. I am shooting for it to be done by the end of "this month. I've been in New York working hard doing the Cali to New York connection. I've also been dippin' down South as well. I'm just trying to be universal so everybody can feel the sound.

Don't worry I am still doing "Yac" but some of the music is what some people won't expect for a typical West Coast rapper. I am still going to give y'all some of that Doggy's Angels.

I’m going to get it in, don't trip. I am just trying to be creative and different and see what comes from it. For you West Coast fans my mixtape is going to feature Crooked I, Mykestro, J Sparks, my girl Lady G.

As far as West Coast producers go, I got to get at my boy Jellyroll, and also Battlecat. I got a couple of beats from J.R. There are also some new producers on there. Make sure that y'all support it. I am not going to disappoint you. I just want to say Thank You to everybody that supported Doggy's Angels in the past. That group is in the past but at the end of the day I am still an Angel. I can go to New York and get love from people that know me from Doggy's Angels, so without that, I wouldn't be able to get that kind of love."

news Meech Wells & Dubcnn Present: "No Bacctraccin" - November 8, 2006 By : Rud

Today we have the honor and the privelege of releasing a track that many people have not heard and those that have, from a radio rip off Power 106 many years ago, have been waiting to hear in good quality.

During the recording period for Snoop Dogg's last album on No Limit Records "The Last Meal" he recorded a host of material that did not make the cut. One of which was a track he premiered on Power 106 before the album was released, a track many expected to make the final CD.

When the CD hit stores many were shocked to see a track entitled "No Bacctraccin" featuring George Clinton missing from the tracklist. Over the years many have hoped the track would materialse alas it, until this point, has not been the case. Dubcnn have teamed up with Meech Wells on countless occasions recently and as such, he has offered to let the world hear it as it was meant to be heard - right here on dubcnn.

When asked about the track Meech Wells recalls; "Well me and Snoop did No Bacctraccin in 2000 when he was recording The Last Meal. George Clinton came to my house and laid the hook and Bootsy Collins played guitar, then Tha Brides Of Funkenstein did the backing vocals on the chorus and Dr. Dre mixed the record - but they didn't release it."

All in all a collection of legends had input in this track however it never made its proper release; until today. Today we can premiere the track that in the words of Meech Wells "not even Snoop Dogg has a copy of" for all fans and our readership to enjoy, no tags, just good music.

Snoop Dogg - No Bacctraccin (Feat. George Clinton)

Our thanks go out to Meech Wells for his continued support and his unique interaction with our readers and members of the forum; a trait many artists and producers could take heed of. Enjoy the music and support Meech Wells later this month as he releases the Young Joker "Tha Takeover" mixtape - stay tuned to dubcnn.

news Spider Loc & Felli Fel Are "Connected" - November 4, 2006 By : Lil Jay

Since the day Spider Loc bumped into Young Buck in Atlanta two years ago and rattled off an acapella that would convince Buck to introduce him to 50 Cent, the West Coast native has been lowriding to a new beat. news The Wacsta Making Noise With New Projects - November 2, 2006 By : Lil Jay

South Central Los Angeles born and raised The Wacsta aka Wacy Loco hit the scene in 2004 with an impressive debut album called "West Coast Resurrected". Wacsta got the stamp of approval from some of the big dogs on the Coast with featurings from WC, C-Bo, Spice 1, Jayo Felony, Tash, Kokane, Too Short, and others. "I had some West Coast legends on there so that was a thrill for me" Wacsta told Dubcnn.

Two years later the Wacsta is ready to release his sophomore album which serves as an introduction to his crew the We Whit It Rydaz. The album is called "Warning: This Is Not A Mixtape" and The Wacsta took some time out to explain the concept to Dubcnn:

"We're dropping it to let the world know that we got some originality coming up out the game" The Wacsta said. "A lot of cats is doing mixtapes because they feel like that's gonna get them to where they need to be if they rap over these dudes beats. No disrespect to the mixtape rappers and DJ's, but I just feel like we need to introduce some new beats and bring different aspects to the game."

They are waiting for the right distribution deal to come through the door, but the album itself will be released independently.
"We're coming independent so we're doing everything solo" Wacsta continued. "It's hard when you're independent but it's gonna be worth at the end, because you're really making a stamp in the game with your own stuff if it's hot. Everything I do is selfmade just like the "West Coast Resurrected" album; with that one I'm a little bit over 55,000 sold right now, so we're doing pretty good to begin with that project."

The Wacsta laced Dubcnn with 3 exclusive songs from the album. On top of that we have another exclusive that he recently recorded with Katt Williams called "Get At Me Dawg". All 4 songs can be downloaded below. After "Warning: This Is Not A Mixtape", Wacsta is scheduled to drop his second solo album which he has already started working on. The album is set to have guest appearances from Roscoe, Goldie Loc, Kurupt, Jayo Felony amongst others.

The Wacsta also spoke his mind on the current state of West Coast Hip Hop and addressed the situation about new and established artists networking with eachother. "It's a fine line between this new West Coast and the old West Coast, but really, it's all old West Coast. I grew up on all of the legends like WC and Cube, so I gotta show respect to them cause that's where we learned the shit from. But at the same time I feel that the vets who got the plugs and the avenues, why won't y'all help these hot West Coast niggas get in the game though? Especially if a nigga is hot!
Go check on Dubcnn every now and then and see what these up and coming artists talk about. Ride him to your studio, fly him down! See if he can get down how you want him to get down. That's how I look at it. But when niggas ain't looking out we're getting hungry cause we're trying to get where y'all at right now. It ain't no disrespect to the OG's cause I love them. Like Dub C, he is my family, that's my uncle, that nigga raised me. We go way back before the rap game so that's my main nigga, he knows how his boy Wacy Loco get down. I respect my elders. If you look at the "West Coast Resurrected" album, I brought all the OG's on there.
"

Wacy Loco can also be heard on the Spice 1 "Bossed Out" compilation which was released in 2005. Wacsta was all over the album and stole the show on a lot of tracks, such as "Crazy". The compilation also came with a accompanying DVD which had Spice 1, Wacsta, Katt Williams and the rest of the crew kicking it behind the scenes and bossin up on stage.

"Spice 1 is a legend. I deal with this cat on a regular basis" Wacsta said about Spice 1, "but where is his respect? Where are the niggas in the game that can pick him up and put him on a Dre beat? Quit being stingy like that! Put him on a hot ass track and let him get down. If they can bring Rakim back to life, come on man! So I just feel like people need to open up their doors and network."

A two minute video segment from the "Bossed Out" DVD can be watched by downloading it below:

news Sly Boogy Asks You To "Git Up" [World Premiere] - November 2, 2006 By : Lil Jay

It's always a pleasure to see artists we introduce grow and get better over the years. One of them is definitely Sly Boogy because he's steadily at it even if the public ear doesn't hear about it. It was at the end of August when we last featured Sly on Dubcnn to premiere his street single "Mamacita" featuring Sinful & Tanya. Shortly after that, we followed up with the Young Joker collaboration "100 Thousand" which has Sly doing a guest appearance alongside EDI of Tha Outlawz and Jamie Foxx.

Two months later, The I.E. mic ripper is back on Dubcnn to let us world premiere a new song that he just recorded. This monster is called "Git Up" and it has Sly doing the hook himself. It was produced by Noah Ayala from 103.5 The Bomb in Sacramento and he delivered a heater perfectly fitting for Sly. Noah also produced the "One Day" joint off of Sly Boogy's "The Fifth Letter" mixtape. On top of that, Sly and Noah are partnering up to compile a mixtape that will be available soon. We'll bring you more info on that in the near future.

On a different subject, Sly recently made a public service announcement regarding the Novemeber 7th election. Reflecting the song title, he wanted Dubcnn to pass this info along and everybody to git up:

"I wanna send a friendly reminder out to all of my folks out there who registered to vote. Make sure you make that Novemeber the 7th deadline. There are a couple of ballot propositions related to how the revenue from gas tax is spent. Make sure ya’ll go out and vote. If you can’t vote, git yo relatives and loved ones to be yo voice and remind them to vote. Sit down wit em and fill out the ballot. If you gonna git ya pockets patted at the pump the least you can have is a say in where some of the proceeds is going. Use your voice before it’s too late. West up!!"

Back to the song, download "Git Up" below. You can also visit Sly's MySpace page by clicking here.
