Westcoast Wednesday: “Bow Down” To Westside Connection

We continue with the teasers in the lead up to our new DAILY WESTCOASTfeature we are getting ready to bring you next month. Over the last few weeks we’ve brought you the Westcoast Wednesday feature with the Kuruptrecord I Thought You Knew featuring Krook and produced by Fingazz – which was an “unreleased/bonus” record from Kurupt’s third solo studio LP“Space Boogie: Smoke Oddessey” released in 2001.

We followed that up with a Throwback Thursday special to celebrate a classic record from 1999 from Warren G’s third studio album, “I Want It All.” The Game Don’t Wait (Remix) featuring fellow 213 members Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Xzibit over a Dr. Dre production and earlier this week brought you Paparazzi fromXzibit’s debut album “At the Speed of Life” – released May 27, 1996 and produced by Thayod Ausar.

Last week we travelled back to 2000/2001 and dropped two songs from the two Snoop Doggpresented Eastsidaz albums; G’d Up (Feat. Butch Cassidy) and I Luv It.

Today we pay homage on this Westcoast Wednesday to the lead single from the debut album byWestside Connection released on October 22, 1996 through Ice Cube’s Lench Mob/Priority Records. Ice Cube, WC and Mack 10 enlisted Bud’da and QDIII and dropped the platinum selling LP “Bow Down.”

The 13 track LP was soon dubbed a classic by the West Coast fanbase and has gone on to hold that status amongst fans of the genre as a whole. The lead single from the LP shared the same name as the album and “Bow Down” peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, while hiting #1 on the rap chart – take a trip back to ’96 with Dubcnn!
