KING premieres Native Land with The Fader and Perform on Conan with Corinne Bailey Rae

“Take a trip to a place where beauty sprouts from both life and death.”
“a stunning animated visual”
“an organic, cool-hued bit of animation with trippy but serene imagery
befitting the ethereal, fantasy-like aesthetic of the song”
Los Angeles Grammy-winning trio KING partners with The FADER for an exclusive premiere of their brand new music video “Native Land.” Painting a wondrous and dreamy landscape, the ladies of KING pay homage to the before-and-after world with a guided journey through the circle of life. In turn, these discoveries brings a deeper sense of self that evolves into a newfound strength to pave a way for a more progressive future.
“For ‘Native Land,’ we collaborated with Filip Anthonissen to imagine a visual journey through the landscapes of birth, life, and death, paying homage throughout to every person’s unique ancestral story,” explains Paris Strother. “We love the surreal quality of this video – it’s been incredible to work with a series of artists who contribute so much to the narrative and bring the songs to life.”
“Native Land” is the third installment in KING’s animated video series of their critically acclaimed debut album, We Are KING, which has earned coveted top spots on “Best Of 2016 So Far” lists by TIME MagazineRolling StonePitchforkComplex,NPRThe GuardianStereogumNoiseyNewsday and The Quietus.  Essencepremiered their Muhammad Ali tribute “The Greatest” and praised the ladies for their “eclectic beats and lush harmonies.” Furthermore, Billboard premiered their “Carry On” music video and are “presently relishing in the love-themed set which bowed at No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart and in the top 10 on Independent Albums.”

Twins Paris and Amber Strother and musical sister Anita Bias are KING.
In 2011, KING independently released their first EP to much acclaim; title track “The Story”, “Supernatural”, and “Hey” make up the 3-piece introduction to their carefully crafted dream-soul sound. Hours after the release, their EP had traveled far to music lovers and tastemakers alike, making new fans of many.
KING’s eclectic sound is relatable yet not simply defined. Though they play with the boundaries of their many influences, throughout each song is the common thread of a certain soulful authenticity. The smooth vibe, intricate production, and harmonic style of their music evolved beautifully in their home studio, a product solely of the three women and a result of their Minneapolis and Los Angeles roots.
Paris produces KING’s songs, while Amber and Anita are the primary singers. The three work together on songwriting and arrangements to create their unique sound, garnering such accolades as Rolling Stone’s 10 New Artists You Need To Know,Pitchfork’s Best New TrackNPR’s Song of the Day and 10 Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop PlayingBillboard’s 10 Best R&B Songs of 2014The Guardian’s New Band of the Day and Best Albums of 2013Metro UK‘s Singles of the WeekGlamourMagazine’s 2013 Free Holiday Music Campaign and the 55th GRAMMY Award for ‘Move Love’, their collaboration with Robert Glasper on his Best R&B Album ‘Black Radio’.
KING’s debut album We Are KING blends an array of genres, eras, and influences, and serves as the introduction to the trio’s lush soundscape.  We Are KING was released February 5th, 2016 via KING Creative and bowed at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart and in the top 10 on Independent Albums and R&B Albums chart. It has received rave reviews from NPR, Rolling Stone, New York Times, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Billboard, Boston Globe, Chicago Sun Times, Village Voice, Brooklyn Vegan, Ebony, VIBE, The London Sunday Times, Life +Times, the Guardian, Essence and many more.
