“You could feel the pain that Runway Richy puts into the song
and the way that he applies that to the concept of the video
 is nothing short of brilliant.”

“I’ll never forget the day I made ‘I’ll Be There.’ What started off as a song dedicated to my brother Twin from the six, ended up being also being a tribute to my bro Peanut da don as well who got killed while I was in the studio making this song.”
– Runway Richy

Atlanta rapper Runway Richy partners with HotNewHipHop to release the brand new music video for his stand-out track “I’ll be There” from China Cafeteria 2.5 releasing August 25. Beatmonster Marc produced what turned out to be one of Runway Richy’s most touching and personal songs from the mixtape honoring two close friends lost too soon. Directed by Chase “DJ Southanbred” Walker, Runway Richy guides the young hustlers, advising them to put aside petty beefs and instead be there for their friends.

“For me, the most personal track from my new project China Cafeteria 2.5 is definitely ‘I’ll Be There.’ It’s a real touchy song for me. I started the record thinking about how one of my homeboys Twin from the six got killed. I was just pouring myself out with the first verse and as I was working on the second, my manager finds out they just found Peanut Da Don dead. He was one of the newest members of Hustle Gang. We were cool and I was literally in the studio with him just 2 days ago. All of a sudden, I just went blank. So I crumbled up my verse and spit the second freestyle.”

China Cafeteria 2.5 will include the autobiographical “Made It Happen” featuring Trae Tha Truth that Pigeons and Planes premiered and praised him as “another [Atlanta] gem popping up out of nowhere.” His latest music video “Switchin Sides” featuring Gucci Mane had The FADER exclaiming “Runway Richy And Gucci Mane Are Rock Stars!”

Runway Richy biography:

With nowhere to go but up, Decatur, GA rapper Runway Richy has crafted his rocky journey into a catalog of street tales – songs that speak to those struggling for a better way. Over the years, rhyming was something to do in between dealing with real life situations – situations that often brought trouble. “I’m the one who had one foot in the streets and one in the booth,” he remembers.

In 2016, he released a breakthrough mixtape called China Cafeteria that included production by ATL hitmakers Zaytoven, FKi, Metro Boomin and Southside. Runway Richy was on his way to a promote the mixtape when out of nowhere, his truck was brutally hit flipping it over three times and ejecting him out onto the streets. The devastating near fatal car accident forced him to learn how to walk again, but he bounced back with his against all odds inspired song called “Made It Happen” featuring legendary Houston emcee Trae The Truth. The song and its follow-up single “Switchin Sides” featuring Gucci Mane has received critical-acclaim by The Fader, HotNewHipHop, Pigeons and Planes, OkayPlayer, XXL, The Source, 2DopeBoyz, Earmilk and many more.

Runway Richy will release his new mixtape China Cafeteria 2.5 with guest features Gucci Mane, Trae Tha Truth and more on August 25.
