compton has more trap but musically they are the same. the music just doesnt sound like dre production like dre shit used to in the 2000s. firing his og producer team and engineers didnt help him at all.

compton had many dreish elements with an updated sound

Production credits out on Xzibit's IG now

Nothing groundbreaking. We know Dre/Swizz did their joint. We know Battlecat did Shut Yo Mouth.

Focus & Problem did the Busta Rhymes joint. Dem Jointz has a 3rd beat on the album in addition to the two singles he did. It features "Stallone" who was on Missionary.

Focus did the Redman/B-Real joint. Will.I.Am has a beat on here. DJ Khalil also did a record.

Seems like XZIBIT, is taking it back to his "What You see, is what you get" days, but most of the people here won't get it because they became fans after RESTLESS came out

That part is true, it's like Dre doesn't have his own style anymore. There are few occasional classic Dre moments on both albums (Gone, My Diary on Compton; Thank You and Sticcy Situation on Missionary) but the majority of his current music sounds like it's been made by somebody else.

My point is that these 2 albums are still nothing alike and not just because of trap elements. Music overall is just different.

Correct. He was always using musicians and co producers but he was still fucking with mpc and composing bassline. So he was somehow turning anything to a dr.dre beat.

Now its 9 co producers credited in one song and each dre production sounds different. You cant see his handprints on it.

We can say that he is just leading co producers not musicians and mixing the record. That is not Producing to me. This is executive producing and mixing.

I wanted a more restless type beats, but from the samples on iTunes it doesn’t feel like I’m going to enjoy this

that era is over bro. if  you want restless go listen to restless. time has changed unfortunately.

but i advice you to check "day of the dead" album of Serial Killers. There is one dope Nottz beat and 2 dope Bud'da beats.

But why were restless, Dre’s 2001 and all the albums that year had the best timeless production with incredible beats and now days it’s all a mess

Yeah I agree with you, I think they need to understand the only fans of them now days are the ones from back in the day; so they shouldn’t make music like today’s crap and still to what made them big back in the day, good music is timeless

This Xzibit album is going to be very good despite not sounding like Restless.

All of you love Xzibit mostly because of Restless though. Prior to this X was mostly a lyrical rapper over east coast beats

How? He was part of the Liikwit Crew, At The Speed Of Life had heavy west coast production and 40 Dayz 40 Nightz had a few Aftermath producers and heavy west coast production. The Dre/DPG collabs put him in the mainstream light. Really one of the first “backpack” rapper on the west to get that Dr Dre push. Ras Kass too but he didn’t blow up like X

duno bout nowadays, but dubcc was historically big on xzibit pre restless

his first two albums were considered definitive classix on here and restless was initially considered a letdown by a majority of the posters
