IMO... there is NO question that in the history of West Coast rap,it has produced better gangster rap than alternative rap.

We'll have to disagree then. Both genres have produced some amazing albums. The only difference is that gangsta rap got more publicity.

Is the current (West Coast) gangster rap scene better than the alternative scene?
Hard to say,both has released dope shit... IMO they're pretty equal in 200+
[/color]

Name some dope gangsta rap artists or albums from the last few years, preferably some who have dropped albums.

Yes... But IMO the alternative scene can't compete with the number of dope albums coming out of for example;
-The NWA/DPG family
-Dangerous crew
-Young Black Brotha

Take a look again. Each of those crews are huge and have released a ton of albums, group albums, each have their solo albums, side projects, etc etc. At least as many as, if not more than the groups you mentioned. And these are just three collectives out of the entire west coast alternative underground scene. I think you underestimate the amount of music coming out on the indie rap scene, as a lot of it slips under the radar.

Not even close. Half of that family tree isn't even gangsta rap. I really don't want to make a list of the alternative underground scene. I don't think I could actually. Its huge, way beyond what you realize. If you made a family tree of freestyle fellowship and every act associated with them, it would probably be the same size as the N.W.A. tree. Like I said before, the alternative underground scene is under most people's radar. These guys don't even promote their albums, they just drop them. Just from looking at the list you posted I can see the majority of the west coast albums you listened to are gangsta rap. So how are you going to be talking about the size of the alternative rap scene? Let's face it, this is pretty much a gangsta rap forum. If this is your main music forum, then almost all alternative releases are going to slip by you, unless its by someone like Del who more people know about.

Good looking out on the list. You didn't link to it in your previous post, you linked to some thread where you talked about 5 albums.

So looking at your list and only taking the west coast gangsta rap albums, the highest you rated an album was 3.5? That's not a very good look for 09.

ohhh my god....
other than
-Black Eyed Peas,
-93 'Til Infinity (which really is Hip Hop, not alternative,but I wont bother to go there again with you again)
and
-I Wish My Brother George Was Here...
nothing from the alternative scene made it nationwide.

Even if we say that half of that tree ain't gangster rappers (which is correct  ;)).
The remaining half has released more,better and groundbreaking albums than the alternative scene.

So it's huge,but none of them really makes any noise outside California.

So does the gangster rap scene... I'm pretty sure you haven't heard of over half of the albums I listed.  :P

I never said size,I said;

You take a look again. The NWA/DPG family has released more,better and groundbreaking albums than the whole alternative scene alone   ;).

So get feeling you don't bother to read my comments thoroughly,so I have to point out previous comments time and time again.
+
I get the feeling you're stubborn,just for the hell of it.  :-\

You're right,this is pretty much a gangster rap forum.
And yes,it's the only message board I browse.
But if you think I get my info and music from this message board,you're out of line.  ;)
Please do a little research next time  ;)

But feel free to add albums thatīs missing from 2009īs list here;
List of 2009 albums and links to their respective threads (add on)

Mistake  ;)

I'm a critical fuck.  ;)
Keep in mind that's just my opinion. + I still got over 100 more albums to go trough from 2009,so my 2009 list ain't complete.
I went trough my 2009 list and found two retail and two street gangster albums. Can you honestly say the same about 2009īs alternative albums?

Quote

Gangster;
-The Jacka Tear Gas; 3.5/5
-Taje; Hot Box 3; 3.5/5
-Omar Cruz; Hand of cruz; 3.5/5
-B-Real of Cypress Hill; Smoke N Mirrors; 3.5/5

Hip Hop;
-Rome; My Demo; 3.5/5
-Magnificent Ruffians; Elevated Ruffians; 4/5
-Soul assassins; 3.5/5
