Last year California native West Haven Blast was first on DubCNN as part of an On The Come Up feature with tracks alongside Kokane and E-White.

In the last 12 months West Haven Blast has not only been working on his music but also instrumental in countless DubCNN exclusive video features and interviews – including the DubCNN 2014 Reunion footage and Eazy-E 50th Birthday, as well as interviews with Curtis Young, Scoe, Suga Free, DJ Quik, Kam, YG Hootie and more.

In 2015 so far the Lynwood and Compton representer has dropped the “St Patricks Day Slaughter” and his Kokane featured single “Everywhere I Go” but today he confirms he’s working on a new project by dropping a track that features Tash of the world renowned hip-hop group Tha Alkaholiks.

“City of Angels” is produced by West Haven Blast, with scratches provided by DJ Leaf, and sees West Haven link with an artist he’s admired for years, he tells DubCNN how the collabo happened;

“I actually met Tash in 1998, at Loud Records, while mentoring under A-n-R Shane Mooney. I recently interviewed Tash for DubCNN.com, and eventually we collaborated on a few ApparelZoo.com mixtapes. Upon the completion of “Rep That Hub City” [his upcoming single] I sent the track to Tash to critique. Much to my surprise, the feedback was amazing. I mean, I thought the song was dope, I love [that] raw hip-hop sound, beats and lyrics – but when Tash told me that while in New York, he accidentally played my song, and Wu-Tang Radio immediately picked it up and started spinning it…and when he told me a bunch of East Coast MC’s were in the studio with him, bangin the joint, and complimenting the lyrics…I thought, ‘we might have something here’ and then Tash jumped on the remix, “City of Angels”, laced it with a dope 16, and my man DJ Leaf killed it on the scratches.”
