PHOTOS: Snoop Lion Performs For The First Time @ SXSW

Last night Snoop Dogg headlined Cashmere Agency’s “LIONFEST at SXSW- A celebration of Reincarnatedat VICELAND for the first time as Snoop Lion.

Performing in front of 2,000 fans, Snoop showed off his new reggae/dancehall influenced records from his forthcoming Reincarnated album due on April 23rd.

Tracks from the new LP included, “So Long”, “La La La“, “No Guns Allowed”, “Lighters Up” and more interspersed with some of his classic hits, including a reggae version of “Gin & Juice” and “Young, Wild and Free”, as well as vintage songs like “Nuthin’ But A G Thang”, “Let’s Get High” and “Bitch Please” and DPG’s “We Can Freak It” bringing out Daz and Kurupt.

Also performing last night were Diplo & Major Lazer, who had the crowd hyped as they tossed confetti, stage dived and crowd surfed in a bubble.  Dancehall star and featured artist on ReincarnatedMavado, took the stage shortly after Major Lazer.  The We The Best Music Group (DJ Khaled’s label) artist, performed some of the tracks that will be on his forthcoming album.  New York singer/songwriter Angela Hunte (“Empire State of Mind”) opened the night with a hot freestyle over Baauer’s “Harlem Shake”.

Remember the “REINCARNATED” film hits theaters TODAY, March 15 for a limited run and will be on DVD, iTunes and Amazon in April (Via VICE Films and Snoopadelic Films). The “REINCARNATED” album is set for April 23 release. Media from the album already released include the singles La La La and Here Comes the King as well as videos for Here Comes the King and Lighters Up.
