1200772433 - January 1, 1970 By : Glasses Malone now has the number one record on Los Angeles station Power 106! His hit single "Certified" with Akon has finally reached the top of the charts, and the entire Dubcnn staff would like to congratulate him for this major accomplishment! It's been a lot of hard work to get this record pushed to this level. If you're a frequent Dubcnn reader, you'll remember that we dropped the single all the way back in June 2007. It's taken that much time and effort from Glasses, Blu Division, and FiringSquad Management to get the mainstream buzzing, but now that they've caught on, the payoff is going to big, not just for them, but for the entire West Coast!
Take another listen to "Certified" by using the link below.

In related news, Glasses is getting ready to shoot a video for "Certified." We can't wait to see it hit all of the major outlets soon! Add Glasses Malone as your friend on Myspace to congratulate him on the good news, and stay tuned to Dubcnn for all of your West Coast needs.

1203997425 - January 1, 1970 By : And here it finally is! The man of the hour (or should I say year?) is getting closer and closer to the position where he needs to be on top of the game! As we previously reported, Glasses Malone shot a video for his hit single "Certified" featuring Akon last month, and this video will hopefully help him get to that next level! After dominating radio airwaves and even landing the number one spot on L.A.'s Power 106, the anticipation for the video was building up and it was only right that the West Coast showed tremendous support at the video shoot.
The outcome of the video is very pleasing, they kept it street and added a lot of dark and grimey elements, but innovative at the same time. The only downside is that a lot of the words have been edited out the final version, which takes away from the flow of the song.
The video has been shipped to MTV and BET, and it will air the first time on BET's Rap City on Thursday. But you already know that we ain't gonna let you wait for that long! As always, Dubcnn is taking care of it and bringing you the world premiere of the video. We'll let the visual speak, so let's get this one out there:
Glasses Malone - Certified Feat. Akon (YouTube, Windows Media and QuickTime Video)
The entire Dubcnn staff would like to congratulate Glasses on this great video. Be on the lookout for "The Beach Cruiser" dropping April 1st, it's gonna be crazy! Also, if you are interested in the "Certified" T-Shirts that you're going to see in the video, hit up glassesmalone.com to get you one of these.

1200428803 - January 1, 1970 By : DJ Nik Bean has just issued a huge press release regarding his latest projects. We're going to drop the whole thing for you to read today, so check it out below, and don't forget to visit DJ Nik Bean on Myspace!
"Renowned Los Angeles-based DJ Nik Bean has announced plans today to release a new mixtape project every week during the months of January, February, and March. This is exciting news for fans of California hip-hop, who have quickly come to recognize Nik’s mixtapes as a street-savvy source of quality music. While Nik has created compilations for West Coast legends like Ice Cube, Tha Dogg Pound, and Jayo Felony, he is most well-known for his ability to highlight the best in new artists, as evidenced by his projects with emerging superstars Hot Dollar and Glasses Malone.
Nik, known in the streets as “The Mixtape Hustler,” will be on the grind more than ever with this three-month long mixtape extravaganza. A highlight from the set is “Streetz Of L.A. Volume 4,” the latest installment in Nik’s highly successful West Coast mixtape series. For this fourth edition, Nik has teamed up with L.A. radio heavyweight Felli Fel and Atlanta’s mixtape champion DJ Drama to create what will assuredly be one of the biggest mixtape releases of the year. The involvement from Drama and Felli Fel, the latter of which recently signed with Atlanta-based So So Def Records, will combine with Nik’s California-bred mentality to make the project a cross-country success in more ways than one.
Nik and Felli Fel have teamed up to release four other projects together during this blitz. A Valentine’s Day release with lyrical firestarter Crooked I entitled “The St. Valentine’s Bossacre” will hit the streets as a surprise gift. The project will feature a variety of new and previously unreleased material. Mixtapes with G-Unit’s Spider Loc, renowned writer Problem, and Aftermath-signee Stat Quo will also come from the newly formed powerhouse team. DJ Felli Fel’s debut project “Go DJ” is set for an early 2008 release. A video for the nationwide hit single from the album, “Get Buck In Here,” will be released next week. You can purchase “Get Buck In Here” from iTunes by clicking here.
Nik has many more projects to put out. Solo mixtapes include “Sonically Correct” with Watts star Bangloose, Sillk Calone’s “By Way Of South Central,” and releases from Roscoe Umali and Yung Berg. Nik has also teamed up with Atlanta’s DJ Scream and “The Butcher” DJ Vlad for a mixtape with 2Five titled “Talk Is Cheap, I Plead The 5th.” The Bay Area will be excited when Nik drops Balance’s “Unsigned Legend” alongside the highly-respected DJ Rah2K as well.
With over ten mixtapes ready for release, Nik is giving the public many more reasons to call him “L.A.’s Mixtape King.” However, it won’t be long before the “Mixtape Hustler” steps into the retail album world. Nik has officially started to record material for his full-length debut album, tentatively titled “The Hustler’s Manual.” The project will feature an all-star lineup of West Coast acts and some very special surprise guests from other regions as well. Fans can be on the look out for the album in stores later this year.
Nik is also starting “Streetz Of L.A. Radio,” his weekly radio offering. The first episode will air on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Shade 45 channel in the beginning of February. In addition to all of these music projects, Nik is also putting together a new DVD magazine that will be released four times annually. “Street Certified” promises to give viewers a look at the inner-workings of the hip-hop world. Artists like Crooked I, Rick Ross, Mistah F.A.B., and Glasses Malone have already contributed to the first issue, which will arrive in stores next month.
DJ Nik Bean is starting 2008 off with a loud bang on the West Coast that will be heard across the nation. The three-month long mixtape blitz will simply solidify his spot as one of the hardest-working, and most prominent, mixtape DJs in the game."

1085559595 - January 1, 1970 By : Big Hutch a.k.a. Cold 187um, of the Legendary West Coast supergroup, Above The Law returns with his second solo release, "Live From The Ghetto."
Hip-Hop heads especially those west-coast purists last heard from Hutch back in 1999. He released his first solo debut "Executive Decisions" on his independent label, WestWorld Records. A lot has went on in the past five years and just when people thought that he and Above The Law were finished, they creep back and re-invent themselves and the game.
After the release of "Executive Decisions" and ATL’s "Forever Rich Thugs", Hutch received a call from then-incarcerated mogul Suge Knight to run the music production end at Death Row Records. Hutch’s signature G-Funk sound could be found on 2Pac’s "Until The End Of Time", The Dogg Pound’s "The Dogg Pound 2002" Snoop Dogg’s "Dead Man Walkin’", and the Death Row compilation "2 Gangsta For Radio." Despite the success of Death Row’s post 2Pac era, the label and Hutch couldn’t see eye to eye about the direction or release of the Above The Law album, then called "Diary Of A Drug Dealer" says Hutch, "As the owner of WestWorld, I wanted to see ATL in the upper echelon of the business, not just caught up in the mill of things."
"Live From The Ghetto" is not a mere title nor a misnomer, it is the mind state and environment that 187um has always been a part of and it’s evident throughout the album. This path has taken Hutch back to his gritty and grimy foundation as a premier emcee and producer. He had pulled back from his production duties for the past few years, by inviting new up-and-coming producers into the fold. Hutch always felt a need to help those burgeoning talent get immediate exposure. In fact the last two WestWorld releases featured affiliated producers who were inspired and hung around the group long enough to get bit by the G-Funk bug. In 2004, Cold 187um felt that it was time that he got behind the boards again and give the fans those patented gangsta-funk beats behind his well-known thugged out delivery. But never breaking the mold, well known west-coast producer Mark Sparks contributed 4 tracks to the album to add a slightly different, but certified west-coast rhythms that doesn’t stray away from the musical foundation Hutch has created for the album.
Cold 187um decided to remake a classic love song, "Give Me Your Love (Love Song)" performed by none other than the late great Curtis Mayfield. The formula for tackling a noted classic from a classic movie from the blaxploitation era of African American cinema? "Curtis Mayfield is one of my all-time favorite musicians" says Hutch. "The song is classic and you can’t top it, so all I could do is pay homage to him by adding my style to it and telling a similar story that the original is based on. Basically, "Give Me Your Love" is about a brother on the daily grind doing what he got to do, but knowing whatever happens, his woman got his back regardless of the outcome."Above The Law, Kokane, and upstarts Young Madd, Geno, and Vietnam graces the album.
Hutch feels that "Live From The Ghetto" is very reminiscent of Uncle Sam’s Curse not necessarily in the way of political opinion, but the overall realness that was the at the core of that noted classic album. The overall subject matter may be a bit racy for the commercial radio format, but for those who are familiar with 187um and ATL know they always offer a positive and possible solution within the content of their music.
As an entrepreneur, Hutch has always envisioned himself as being the sole controller of his destiny even before he decides to retire. He would like to see his company, WestWorld Entertainment Group, become the independent powerhouse that rivals the legendary Ruthless and Death Row Records, both of whom he is very familiar with. Hutch is very comfortable with his current distribution deal, which he has a history with from the days Above The Law were recording for Tommy Boy Records.
"Live From The Ghetto" is WestWorld Record’s third major release. The first single is entitled "Lyrical Murda" WestWorld Records has already hit various markets around the country with their own mixtape hosted by none other than Big Hutch himself. "The mixtape basically re-introduces me to the community and lets them know what they can expect with this album. We’ve been receiving great feedback from the mixtape, the streets is definitely feeling it, especially here in Los Angeles."
"Live From The Ghetto" will be released nation-wide on June 8th, 2004.

1122629421 - January 1, 1970 By : Warren G has been honored in his hometown of Long Beach as the Mayor proclaims August 1st through the 6th as Warren G week. The Rapper/Producer is releasing his New album, In The Mid-Nite Hour, September 27th on Hawino/Lighteryear/Wea Records.
Through years of continued excellence, Warren G has attained iconic status in the world of Hip-Hop. With a best-selling platinum and gold certified catalog boasting such classics songs as "Regulate," "This DJ" and "I Want It All" Warren has brought his laid back style of music to audiences around the world, but also a slice of life from his beloved hometown of Eastside Long Beach.
As if bringing global attention to the city weren't enough, Warren has also actively participated in the development of area and its residents in a variety of ways including the time he helped Lenscrafters, Shell Oil and City Councilmember Laura Richardson raise enough money to buy 500 pairs of eyeglasses for children to use for reading. Or the annual G Christmas shopping spree in a rented U-Haul where he drops his own cash on toys to give to kids at the California Recreation Center. Just last week the guy received an award from Project Coordinator Leonard Adams for time and money donated to the Midnight Basketball League, which operates as an alternative to the trouble that can be found outside on the streets.
Those efforts over the years are about to be officially recognized on August 1-6 when Long Beach Mayor Beverly O'Neall proclaims that time period, "Warren G Week." The seven days also coincide with the opening of G's latest labor of love: the Willie McGinest Freedom School on August 1. Freedom School is a Summer enrichment program that was originated in the Civil Rights Era year 1964 in order to teach African-Americans to read and write so they could vote. It evolved into an educational improvement curriculum that stresses reading to help build a desire to learn that young people carry with them into the regular Fall school year.
The Willie McGinest Freedom School program will be the debut of this educational course in Long Beach. City native, Super Bowl Champion New England Patriot Linebacker McGinest, put up the seed money to start the school. A mutual childhood friend then introduced Warren to the Pastor O. Leon Wood, Jr., and that's how the week's benefit concert came about to raise funds to continue this valuable enrichment program. (Robert Robinson, senior outreach coordinator for City of Long Beach, organized many of the week's other activities.)
"The City of Long Beach owes Warren G a great amount of love and gratitude for his continued demonstration of care and concern for our youth," states Pastor Wood. "He shows his love through the giving of his time and resources. He is always there when needed."
"I'm not just proud of Warren as his manager I'm proud of Warren as his uncle," adds Wron G. "He has stayed true to Long Beach and helped others to move to the next level in life. I thank the City of Long Beach for recognizing his humanitarian activities."
The full schedule of Warren G Week events include:
August 1, at 8:30 a.m.: Willie McGinest Freedom School will begin with a proclamation of Warren G Week from Mayor Beverly O'Neall at the Sutter Academy, 5075 Daisy, in North Long Beach.
August 2: TBA
August 3, at 2:00-4:00 p.m.: Warren G will speak to Boy's and Girl's Club, Martin Luther King Park 1950 Lemon Ave, Long Beach
August 4, at 10 p.m.-12 a.m.: Coach and play in Midnight Basketball League at California Recreation Center. Game begins at 12 a.m. midnight.
August 5, from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.: Warren G Day at the Queen Mary, Long Beach Harbor with tour of ship for Long Beach residents. Meet and Greet by Warren.
August 6, at 2:00 p.m.: Warren G concert for the kids of Long Beach on the lawn in front of Hughes Hanger at Queen Mary.
August 6, at 8:00 p.m.: Warren G performs a benefit concert also on the lawn in front of Hughes Hanger at the Queen Mary. He will give new, upcoming Long Beach acts the opportunity to open for him. Special friends will drop by. Proceeds go to the Willie McGinest Freedom School.
A few days after these celebrations, Warren will begin the promotion that will announce the September 27 release of his latest album, called In The Mid-Nite Hour on Hawino/Lightyear/WEA Records. Once again self-produced, the CD will feature that patented G-Funk grown a bit in songs like "Get Ya Down" and "Make It Do What It Do."
For those Interested, Donations for the Willie McGinest Freedom School may be sent to:

Congratulations to Warren G for this MAJOR accomplishment!!

1157251996 - January 1, 1970 By : This collaboration has been a long time coming! Akon has been enjoying success ever since he dropped "Locked Up" with Styles P in 2004, and followed up with his solo album "Trouble", which featured a series of hit songs.
He's been very sought after for hooks and beats as well, recently being featured on India Aries's "I Am Not My Hair", Young Jeezy's "Soul Survivor" or Rick Ross' "Cross That Line" to name a few.
Akon is now ready to release his still untitled sophomore album. The first single "Smack That" features Eminem and is sure-shot club hit. He also hooked up with Snoop Dogg to record the track "I Wanna Luv You", of course produced by Akon himself. The result is a certified banger, with a catchy hook and Snoop flowing smoothly over the upbeat production.
Check out "I Wanna Luv You" below and be on the lookout for Akon's new album, more news on that soon:

1183627038 - January 1, 1970 By : With his overt sociopolitical/spiritual stance, somewhat rare for a West Coast rapper, Kam's angst-ridden brand of hardcore rap helped set the mark by which other socially-conscious emcees would be judged.
Originally affiliated with Ice Cube, Kam's releases appeared sporadically, initially debuting on the Boyz N the Hood soundtrack (Every Single Weekend), and then releasing his first solo album, "Neva Again" (1993, on East/West Atlantic Records).
His powerful sophomore release, "Made in America" was released to critical acclaim in 1995, although a lack of commitment from the Label, due to the merger between Warner/Elektra/Atlantic (WEA), and his political stance at the time, eventually led to his departure.
The talk surrounding his latest album, which will be his fourth album - the follow up to 2001's "Kamnesia," has been ongoing for many years now. "Self & Kind" was originally announced and then completed some years ago however problems arose that saw the long awaited project scrapped. Today however, with his recent alignment with Snoop Dogg and his new group Warzone alongside Goldie Loc & MC Eiht, "Self & Kind" is back on the agenda.
Already well under production the album is set to feature Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Tyrese, The Game, Akon and other heavyweights with production set to come from DJ Pooh, BattleCat, Sir Jinx and even Dr. Dre. Only time will tell how this release comes together and when it gets released however we are confident "Self & Kind" will see the light of day later this year.
Today we can provide a track set to feature on the album that has been floating around for a few weeks now that features Kam's brother Yung Bruh on a cut called "Dirty West." We have both the Dirty & Radio versions available for download below, DJ's make sure you get a copy and help promote Kam and "Self & Kind."

1192117665 - January 1, 1970 By : In a city known for beautiful scenery and a highly powerful and influential drug game, HeatWave is making a name for himself in the music industry. Vancouver is a flourishing city and with a nearly untapped hip hop scene and HeatWave is poised and prepared to compete on the Billboard charts and American mainstream stage.
This is one artist who refuses to be put into the Canadian Rapper mold and plans on making a serious impact on the U.S. music industry and abroad, all while representing Canada.
HeatWave is currently on the Killawatt Records roster that is owned and operated by the Canadian pioneering hip-hop group, The Rascalz. With RED1 as his primary mentor, HeatWave is blessed with the support he needs to nourish his rapidly emerging talents. Over the past year HeatWave has been fortunate enough to tour the world and as a result his music has become enriched with experiences and his passion and desire to succeed has increased tenfold. Killawatt Records has the leadership and resources for success and HeatWave looks to utilize these assets as fans can look forward to many projects and eventually a full-length studio album from HeatWave.
HeatWave is getting ready to come out of recording hibernation with his debut mixtape, "Coming To America: Live From Rain Drop City" due out later this month. The mixtape is sure to establish HeatWave as an imposing yet refreshing presence in not only the urban music genre, but also the music industry as a whole.
For HeatWave the mix tape is simply a stepping-stone in his game plan.
"I'm coming, America", HeatWave says chuckling, "No, I'm kidding, I really don't care about impressing the U.S.; I'm not trying to be a Canadian rapper who makes it big. I'm just trying to make it big, period. Hip-hop is all about what hood you from and if you ain't from Marcy, Harlem or Compton then you're invisible to people. I'm trying to be the talent that doesn’t need a famous hood to be certified and I think I can do that based on the quality of my music."

Fresh off his signing with Hoo Bangin'/Cash Money Records, Glasses teamed up with West Coast DJ's Dow Jones and DJ Skee to drop his new mixtape/street album called "The Electric Chair" aka "187.4FM WBallz Radio" for free download!
I can feel all the old Death Row fans going "Huh? WBallz Radio? For real?" That's right! They went and got the original DJ EZ Dic and Salty Nutz to handle the interludes on the album, which fits perfectly, as this mixtapes finds Glasses Malone and his entire Blu Division crew flowing over several Death Row classics from "Doggystyle", "The Chronic", "Dogg Food" or "Murder Was the Case".
Take a ride through the Eastside with Watts' own Beach Cruiser, who introduces his Blu Division team on the tape: The Bloc Boyz, Roc Slanga, Quiz & Conflict. Additional features include Daz Dillinger, Mack 10, Butch Cassidy, The Relativez, 211, Akon, Gangsta Granny, with production by Dae One, DJ Toomp, Terrace Martin, Golden Eye, Drop, MikeCity, J Doe, Rhythm D, Conflict & J Steez.
Ain't nothing else to say about this mixtape, just go ahead and download it below:
