1099460299 - January 1, 1970 By : Xzibit is set to release "Weapons of Mass Destruction" on December 7th, it will be released on Sony Music.
The album features production from Timbaland, Hi-Tek, Rick Rock, Battlecat, Denaun Porter, Jellyroll, Sir Jinx and more.
(No word on if the Dr.Dre produced "Grown man business" makes the album, or if it's retitled)
Those who have heard the Timbaland produced first single "Hey Now" will be pleased to know that the album will have more serious subject matters.
Xzibit told MTV:
"I have always been aware of my surroundings. So not putting that in the forefront of my creativity would be a travesty. I had to put it out there."
The first track on the album takes aim at George W. Bush, twisting his own words against him, comparing Bush to his enemies.
The Jellyroll produced "Cold World" also have a political message.
About working with Timbaland:
"Timbaland was crazy to work with. When he stepped in the studio, it was like working with Morpheus from 'The Matrix' he stepped in with three beats and said, 'Pick one.' They all sounded crazy, but I could only pick one. I picked one and he hooked me up. I never wrote like that before either. He scatted out something for me and then I wrote the lyrics to it."

4. Saturday Night Live (featuring Jelly Roll)

1100466966 - January 1, 1970 By : Our forum member "djkoast" has posted a review of this apparently amazing show on our message board, I thought I'd post it here too, as it sounds crazy!!
Here it is:
"ATCQ Reunion! First time they've been on stage in 6 years. Anahiem Stadium parking lot.
First of all let me just name everyone who was at the show yesterday at Anaheim Stadium: A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, X-clan, SPECIAL ED!, Supernatural, Cypress Hill, Xzibit, Strong Arm Steady crew, Tha Likz, Chino XL, Jurrasic 5, Sway and Tech, Dj Revolution, CMA, Little Brother, Dj Icey Ice (beat junkies represent), Mr Choc (beat junkies represent), J Rocc (beat junkies represent), Jaylib, Jay Dilla (D stand up!), Percey P (sp?), and Dj Mark Love.
ATCQ started the set off singing an ODB song to play tribute and then came out and had the crowd have a word of silence for Dirty, mad people throwing up their W's to show respect. Then went on to hug each other. The chemistry between those guys right when they hit the stage was electrifying. Real beautiful thing to see them together again. Got into a couple of jams, KILLED IT. **** was almost like a dream. If you havent seen ATCQ before I suggest you pull out any plans when they come to down and GO. After a few jams they brought out Special Ed for a few joints. Did a few more cuts and then brought out X-clan for a few joints. Went thru all the jams you could think of. Then brought out Mos Def and let him kick a few tracks by himself. Followed it up with a few more cuts then ended the night with Award Tour which had EVERYONE moving. Best concert ive ever seen hands down.
This isnt the order just quick comments...Little Brother came on early so not very many people were there but they were real good. Supernatural was a treat and a half. His 3 words, 3 MCs, and the left to right freestyle of whatever touches his hands really got the whole all day event poppin. J5put on an excellent show. Cut chemist and Dj Numark did their thing together and got the crowd seriously rocking for the guys following them. Numark laid electronic drums into like a high school desk and was pounding away. Xzibit and Cypress Hill need no explanation of how good they are. The drum solo with Bobo and B-real was amazing tho. Both were weaving in and out of each other on seperate drums. Lib and Jay Dilla put on a nice little show, never been a big fan of Jaylib but they nice with theres. After Dj Revolution had come technical difficulties he got on and lit the crowd on fire. There is a reason he gets the amount of respect he does. After everyone got news ODB died EVERYONE dedicated their set to him. Nice to see him get that love from the crowd and artists.
Few rumors, things worth mentioning, facts:
--Phife and Q are the most underrated duo in all of hip hop
--The Pharcyde said that ATCQ insipired them to get back together, so they will be working on a new album.
--Special Ed still has it and has a new album dropping, heard a few cuts on the wake up show last night. Go cop that!
-- Q-tip and Old Dirty Bastard have been long time friends. Q said him and ODB use to battle back when they were 15 or so.
--Tha Likz and Xzibit beef is SQUASHED. He brought them out to perform the likz cut off Restless. They came on stage, he admitted to him not being right without em, and then they all hugged.
--Chino XL is NOT DEAD. Sway and Tech brought him on stage and he kicked a few rhymes accapella. He also dissed actress Cherlon Thrize (or however you spell her fukkin name)
-- Supernatural, during his 3 MCs section of his set, took over Biggie's soul and dissed the fukk outta Guerilla Black.... "Who the Fukk is Guerilla Black / Tell him Biggie said to give his style back"
--Kanye West was suppose to show up but flaked out and turned out to be a no show after the crowd being real hyped he was gonna show up.
Mods this **** should be upped, it gets no more hip hop than this family. If you didnt go.....STOP FUKKIN SLEEPIN ON YASELF! CA ALLLLL DAYYYY!"

1101173904 - January 1, 1970 By : A week and half ago, DubCNN was in full effect at the Sony offices for the Xzibit "Weapons Of Mass Destruction" listening party. I was gonna put up a review of what I thought of the album, but was shocked to see that it had already been leaked to the net. I didn't feel the need to let everyone know the scoop on the album, since most probably already heard it by then. But, with a little persuasive talks, thanks to Yash, I'll drop a tiny review. In the house that night was Super Producer Bosko, Latin Fros, Damizza and a few others. Sony were great hosts. They had an open bar the whole night, along with free Valet Parking, which I'm not used to, at all. So big ups to them for that, I for one appreciated it.
As for the album, it knocked, seriously. This is a major step up from Restless and Man Vs. Machine, both of which I disliked. The production was NICE on this album, very fitting for X. The features were crazy, Steady Gang on a track with Suga Free? WOW! Everyone held their own. For me, it was nice to hear Phil Da Agony and Krondon finally get the recognition they deserve. I felt X really got his bars up this go around. Since he's rollin' with SAS, it seems his mind is back in the right place. Make sure you cop this album. And here's some pics.

1116119853 - January 1, 1970 By : The Hip Hop world has just been struck with a huge blow, Justo Faison, the founder/creator of The Justo's Mixtape Awards, has passed. According to sources, he was in driving in Richmond, Virgina, doing promotions, which ended in a fatal car accident, early Saturday morning.
I was getting my Oil changed when I got the phone call from DJ Warrior about Justo's passing. It was saddening to hear, to say the very least. I had the pleasure of meeting Justo twice when he was out here in L.A. recently. He showed me a lot of love. I thanked him for showing the West Coast love at a predominatly East Coast function. I knew, just by talking to him, he had no cares about East Coast/West Coast or anything of the sort. He wanted to see Hip Hop progress, as a whole. He will be missed.
"Justo is a person that gave me, not only business, but personal advice, as well. He made Mixtapes official to the industry. He took it to another level for a person like me, who came from nothing and had been grinding so long. I can say that I got my break, to a certain degree, because of him. The Mixtape Awards got me recognition throughout the Hip Hop world. Rest in Peace to him. My Condolences to his family. This is Big loss for Hip Hop today. He was a legend." - DJ Warrior of Cali Untouchable DJs.
As the news came in, so did the phone calls and E-Mails of people sending their condolences and speaking on this tragic news. Here's some quotes from DJ's and Artists.
"Justo made mixtapes happen, he was the one who brought the industry to love mixtapes, to get their artists out. He gave the DJ the strive to make a good mixtape, he brought the awards where the DJs would think if I made a hot mixtape and if I was consistant maybe I would win one. Justo is a legend to the DJs and a great man he will be missed. May Justo R.I.P.." - DJ Papa Smirf
"Big ups to my man Justo, the true Mixtape King. He helped make Mixtape DJ's and Artists. He was able to break down the barriers and bring together the East Coast, West Coast, South, Midwest, Reggae, Reggaeton, etc. He'll be missed. My condolences go out to him and his family." - DJ Hideo of Cali Untouchable DJs.
"Rest in Peace to one of the coolest niggas. He was a real good brotha from the streets to the corporate shit. My condolences." - Chace Infinite of Self Scientific.
"Rest in Peace to Justo. Condolences to him and his family from Strong Arm Steady. He had a great vision for Hip Hop. Furthering everything cats were doing in the U.S. and took it all over the world. Justo gave a platform, something to look for, more so than other hierarchy of award shows. He set tone for real cats in the street makin' names for themselves. From East Coast to West Coast to London. He'll be missed, gotta keep his legacy pushing and alive." - Krondon of Strong Arm Steady.
"Salutes to Justo. This is a tragic loss to Hip Hop. He did a lot for Mixtape DJs when he didn't have to. To be nominated and apart of the Award's is an honor. On behalf of all Cali Untouchable DJs. Condolences to him, his family, friends. I wish it didn't happen. Again, this is a big loss for Hip Hop. He was a Father figure. Hope to see legacy live on. Hope its like Oscar's of Hip Hop for DJs." - DJ Strong of Cali Untouchable DJs.
"In 2003, I moved to NY from Oakland, California, dead broke with dreams of making it in the DJ business. After only being in NY for a week, totally unknown, Justo reached out to me and offered to drive me around to all the boroughs and educate me in the Mixtape game. From that moment on, Justo became my homeboy. Throughout my DJ grind, whenever I had a question or problem, Justo was always ready to listen and help out. If you were real with Justo, he would ride with you no matter what. Those that didn't like him, he didn't do that industry bullshit and pretend to like them either. In 2004 I won a Mixtape of the Year Award. This was an incredible feeling. But my greatest Hip Hop moment was being nominated for a Mixtape Award in 2003, where I sat at Justo's Mixtape Awards at the plushed out Manhattan Center alongside legends like Kid Capri and Redman. At the moment, I went from being a Hip Hop fan to feeling like I was part of the Hip Hop movement - my greatest award ever. I owe all that to Justo." - DJ Vlad.
Tragic loss! I never met him personally but heard nothin' but good things about him. Justo was the pulse of the street, his Award was something that represented hard work and really what this music is: The Streets." - Balance.
"He was doing something good for the community and had a good outlook on Hip Hop. Rest in Peace." - Styles P of The Lox.
Devestating. He had plans to do the Awards in Madison Square. That was his goal to get there. That was the hugest thing for Hip Hop. He had been working on that. He wanted the world to know what the Mixtape awards were about. Its gonna be hard to replace him. He did the most for Mixtape djs. He put money in DJs pockets. There was nothing like the Mixtape Awards. Huge loss to the Mixtape world. Its gonna be hard to do anything he ever did. He had plans to do a Justo Mixtape every week. He started it last week. He was gonna be on Rap City on May 22nd. He had a good heart. For some to recognize DJs, you have to have a good heart. Hes gone be missed and its a big loss he made Mixtapes commercial, nobody ever did that. - DJ SynCity
"You can't measure what he has done for Hip-Hop on a whole. He is a big reason why we have moved 101,000 since 2001." - Annonymous Records.
Justo recently released a DVD Documentary about the Mixtape Awards. For those who never knew him and those who did, PLEASE Cop The Mixtape Documentary!!!
Let's keep the Legacy alive and keep his dream intact! R.I.P. to a true legend and great person. Dubcnn sends our condolences to Justo and his entire Family and Friends.
We will be Editing this post, adding more shout outs, as well as Pictures and Audio, over the next few days. Continue to pay attention to this.

1130282272 - January 1, 1970 By : It's time for a Change and Chace Infinite and DJ Khalil aka Self Scientific are here to give it to us! The Los Angeles duo released their new album Change on their joint venture with the legendary DJ Muggs, Angeles Records. The label boasts an amazing line up consisting on Muggs, Self Scientific, the San Diego vet Mitchy Slick, Wu Tang Swordsman GZA and L.A.'s Mixtape King himself, DJ Warrior. But, let's not get too far off topic here!
I've had the pleasure of hearing Change and I was very satisfied. The album was entirely produced by Khalil with the only features, outside of hooks, being Planet Asia, Bun B and Kombo. Chace and Khalil continue to show their immense chemistry on every track.
If you enjoyed their first album The Self Science, Chace's Mixtape with Muggs Last Assassin, any of Khalil's Productions of Keith Murray, 50 Cent, G-Unit, Xzibit, Tony Yayo albums or the Strong Arm Steady Mixtapes, then you'll have no problem getting into this album.
Now on to the Interview. Smokes, Henz and RJO of RapTalk.net heading down to San Bernardino 2 weeks ago for Live At The Op, a concert with Self Scientific, DJ Muggs and Gza, Twista, Mack 10, B-Real and many more. They linked up with a lot of people while they were out there and, as the site is in the process of being re-launched, conducted an Interview with Chace and Khalil for Dubcnn.
They talk about their new album, how they connected with Muggs, up and coming projects and much more. But, that's not at all, myself and Justin had the pleasure of hitting up their show at the Conga Room this past weekend. We got 15 minutes of the group performing with a live band. They perform a few cuts off the new album, so just in case you're not sure of what Self Scientific has to offer, you can get an idea. Shouts to DJ Rhettmatic who makes a little cameo at the beginning!
Here's The Track Listing:
01. Intro
02. Change
03. Balance - feat. Kombo
04. King Kong - feat. Bun B of UGK
05. Tears
06. When I Die - feat. Planet Asia

1130834391 - January 1, 1970 By : An MC the calibre of Planet Asia should, as i am sure you agree, find it no trouble to get a label and get records out. However as the years have panned out all Planet Asia has seemed to battle with is Major label politics and independent label incompetence. To the fans relief, all that is set to change. He now has his own company, Gold Chain Music, and strategic partners that share the vision Planet Asia provides. 2006 will see the release of "The Medi-Cali Trilogy", a three-part series from Fresno's finest and as the titles suggest this is the full "healthcare" package.
The first installment, "The Sickness," features production by Khalil, Jake One, D-Cyde, & Amp Live with guest appearances from Moka Only, Rasco, Flii Stylz, Mitchy Slick & Killa Ben. Part two, "The Diagnosis," sees Planet Asia hooking up with the West Coast Mixtape King and good friend of dubcnn, DJ Warrior, who has been putting out nonstop heat for the past few years. The final piece of the puzzle and what you've all been waiting for, "The Medicine," is produced by Evidence and features Black Thought, Prodigy, Strong Arm Steady, Dilated Peoples, Defari, Babu, Revolution, and Shake Da Mayor.
So if you have felt starved of Planet Asia over recent years then look for these releases in 2006 to more than satisfy your appetite, as ever we will have more news and audio soon!

1140744484 - January 1, 1970 By : San Diego's hope Mitchy Slick is finally ready to release his sophomore album. After the smash album "Triggeration Station", Mitchy had everybody fiending for more Wrong Kind music. He's also part of the Strong Arm Steady crew with Xzibit, Krondon & Phil Da Agony. Now, after settling for Angeles Records as his new home, Mitch is set to drop his highly anticipated "Urban Survival Syndrome" on May 16th 2006.
Check out the official press release below:
After releasing two huge albums in one day on October 25, 2005 DJ Muggs vs. GZA/The Genius Grandmasters and Self Scientific Change Angeles Records has announced the next big thingUrban Survival Syndrome from MITCHY SLICK . Urban Survival Syndrome, or USS, will hit the streets on May 16th, 2006.
After building a name for himself on the local scene in San Diego, also known as the Salty D, with his independent label Wrong Kind Records and his smash independent album Triggeration Station Mitchy became a member of the Strong Arm Steady crew alongside Xzibit, Krondon and Phil the Agony. After working with DJ Khalil, and building a business friendship with DJ Muggs, Mitchy chose Angeles Records for the home of Urban Survival Syndrome. My thing was that Muggs and them got a steady track record of keeping they businesses running. I peeped they style and how they get down it wasnt like most of these labels thats really a gang or hood or family-oriented Angeles just seemed like a regular record label to me. Cause Im about business, Ive already done a lot of hood shit, now its about business, explains Mitchy.
DJ Muggs is equally excited about the working relationship with Mitchy and the upcoming album, Mitch has a great work ethic, and hes built himself a following already. Ive been peeping him for a while the way he moves is straight business and he understands the way the game works on top of being the next big thing out of the west, Muggs explains. When I got him in the studio, he works like a vet. Yall better recognize Mitchy Slickthe new West.
The albums title, Urban Survival Syndrome, is based on an actual disorder. After releasing Triggeration Station, Mitchy came up with the title for USS because Urban Survival Syndrome is a last option used in murder cases or urban-area cases. There was a cat named Damian Osby he caught 2 murder beefs in Texas. He basically tried to use the fact that he didnt have no other choice because of his environment and what he grew up having to endure. That was his defense plea in his case, just like post-trauma! tic stress disorder.
Unlike many gangsta rappers and studio gangsters, Mitchy Slick is the product of the rough streets of San Diego a place where youth are bred to become gang members. Mitchy himself was indoctrinated into gang life in the most unlikely of places a youth football league. Pop Warner was the hangout, and the Pop Warner colors were the color of my gang. Thats slick though, Im 9 years old, Im the quarterback, the linebacker is lookin at me crazy, and they got on the color that their gang wear the red and black and I got on the color my neighborhood wear green and at 9 years old, you expect me to make the right choice about gangbanging?!
Mitchy Slick is a new breed of street MC, who hustles harder at the music business than he did in the streets. And with production from DJ Muggs, DJ Khalil, and Fredwreck; Urban Survival Syndrome is sure to rock the streets and the airwaves alike.

1141418661 - January 1, 1970 By : Your favorite rappers favorite rapper Ras Kass is back once again with a new street album/mixtape called "Revenge Of The Spit" in collaboration with Dow Jones & Siccness.net. After "Institutionalized", this is his second release since he came home from jail last year.
On this one, he worked with Kool G Rap, Talib Kweli, Ludacris, Royce Da 5'9, Strong Arm Steady, Gza, Saafir and more. Production was handled by the likes of 9th Wonder, Jake One, DJ Khalil, Da Riffs amongst others.
After listening to it a few times, I gotta say it's a step up from "Institutionalized". The beats hit harder, and Ras delivery is more energetic. It's good to have some new Rassy material, but Ras, bring us the album! It's been what... 7 years since the last official album? I still believe that Ras has a great album in him.

Chace informed us that they are currently in the process of recording two albums, the first of which is a collaboration album with Sick Symphonies (Psycho Realm / Street Platoon) called "The Black & Brown Underground."
The album is being aimed at tearing down the walls that exist between Blacks and Browns in California. The album is already set to feature production from DJ Khalil, DJ Muggs, Cynic (of Sick Symphonies), FM (of Sick Symphonies) and Sick Jacken.
The second album is the much anticpated follow up to last years "Change" which is set to be titled; "Come In Peace, Prepare

This is going to be our best album yet, we have some special surprise guests lined up and as always Khalil will handle all of the production."
He also talked about a recent track which cropped up on the Focus mixtape - Chace explained; "The track "What Is It Now" is from Focus' mixtape called 'It Had To Happen.' Focus and Khalil are good friends, they are both Aftermath staff producers, so Focus asked if we could do a joint on his mixtape."
Dubcnn is also please to announce some information on DJ Khalil and his recent production work. We have been told that he has 3 tracks set to appear on Talib Kweli's new album "Eardrum," 2 on
Xzibit's new album "Full Circle," one of which is called "Poppin Off" which features DJ Quik and King T.
DJ Khalil is also said to have contributed one track on The Game's new album; "The Doctor's Advocate" as well as one for the next 50 Cent album which is as yet untitled. He has also contributed to the score for the animated movie Blokheadz.

1201266159 - January 1, 1970 By : Strong Arm Steady's Krondon just sent us a new exclusive joint that he wants to get out there for the world to hear. A lot of fans have been wondering in the last months what the current relationship between the group Strong Arm Steady is with Xzibit, who put them out there and pushed them real hard for a good minute.
In this new track called "My Big Homie" over Lil Wayne's "Gossip" instrumental, Krondon adresses the situation and speaks on his relationship with X and reaches out to him.
He'd like to make it very clear that this song is not a diss song in any form, it is merely a way for Krondon to express his thoughts and feelings to the audience.
Check out "My Big Homie" below:

1208465274 - January 1, 1970 By : DJ Strong has asked us to release a statement in response to recent words from 40 Glocc regarding their "Outspoken Vol. 3" mixtape. Check it out below.
"As unapologetic as I am in this situation, I feel bad because somebody is insinuating that I didn't do my job. Trust that I wouldn't be where I am if I didnt stay on my grind. I have taken loses on projects just for the love of them...I love this business. This is my heart and soul...so all I can say to any negativity directed towards me is God bless and keep it moving. My focus is on making hip-hop a viable product again and staying true to my West Coast roots.
Peace and respect, DJ Strong."
Strong will address this issue in further detail during his "Palm Trees & Gangstas" radio show on Sirius tomorrow night at 11PM PST. We will have the podcast available for you this weekend, along with a variety of DJ Strong mixtapes for free download. "I want to give away some of my mixtapes for free for 30 days to let people revisit all of the work I have done for the West Coast and being one of the founders of building the current mixtape game on the West Coast since 2000 and beyond."
